About the Author
Dr. Lakicha Jernigan, better known as "Dr. J" is the wife of Mr. Ken J. Jernigan, the mother to Ken Kaysen Jernigan, II, and the daughter of Rev. Melvin and Mrs. Barbara Montgomery, and a sibling of Melvin Jr. and Bethany Montgomery. "Dr. J." is a member of Mount Bell M. B. Church, Louisville, MS, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Anthony McIntosh. She serves as the Minister of Music, Intercessory Team, and aids in other capacities. "Dr. J." is a member and an Ambassador of Kingdom Sniper Institute (KSI) under the direction of Executive Pastor Derek Ryan and Evangelist LaTrice Ryan, where she proudly serves as the Membership Specialist for KSI.
"Dr. J." has received the following degrees from Mississippi State University: a Doctor of Philosophy in Community College Leadership, an Educational Specialist in Special Education, a Master of Science in Special Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Educational Psychology. She published her first publication in April 2016 titled, “The Effects of Social Media Use on Community College Students.” Jernigan has worked in the Mental Health Field for 12 years. "Dr. J." works as the District Behavioral Specialist for the Louisville Municipal School District and has held this position for seven years now. She is also the Certified Manager of Louisville/Winston County Excel by 5. "Dr. J." is her own CEO in her life and desires to inspire whoever will listen before she expires.
An active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. of the Clay County Alumnae Chapter, West Point, MS, "Dr. J." lives by the motto: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)
